Milford Haven, Wales
Milford Haven is the name of both the town and one of the most beautiful natural harbors in Britain, the result of deep glacial erosion during the last ice age. Situated near the mouth of the River Cleddau, at the extreme end of south west Wales, is the largest town in the County of Pembrokeshire, with a population of just under 14,000. This industrial town, formerly a naval dockyard, now has one of Europe’s largest oil ports. Visit Fort Hubberstone, which was built in 1863 to defend the port, and see the ruins of an observatory. The town museum, the Custom House, is housed in the town’s oldest building, dating back to 1797.
