Lac St. Pierre, Canada
This lake and natural reserve is located in Quebec, Canada on the St. Lawrence River. It forms part of the Saint Lawrence Seaway and is a stopping point for thousands of migrating waterfowl including ducks, geese, and herons. In fact, it actually has the largest count of herons in North America as it is a popular nesting place for these interesting wading birds. It includes shorelines, wetlands, and islands and was recognized as a significant international wetland in 1998 under the Ramsar Convention.
